About "EV Tax Credit (NEG)"
The government gives purchasers of electric vehicles tax rebates to incentives people to buy electric cars. These tax credits are phased out for each manufacturer after it has sold 200,000 electric vehicles. So, once a manufacturer has sold 200,000 electric cars, their customers are not eligible for tax credits. The affirmative case will probably argue that the phase out harms competition and that electric vehicles aren’t significantly better for the environment. This brief combats some of those claims, but its most important arguments are in the disadvantages. The tax credits result in increased electric car sales and reduced use of gas-powered vehicles. Electric vehicles are far better for the environment, reduce our need to import oil, and create jobs. Based on these advantages, the government should keep the tax credits and support the use of electric vehicles.
